The Approach

Open House Learning

KOMPASS Kindergarten follows the concept of an interactive learn house. Children are not confined to a single room — they use all indoor and outdoor facilities throughout the day to spark natural curiosity.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and Finnish early education principles, our pedagogy treats every space as a potential classroom — from the atelier to the garden, the building corner to the sensory room.

Nest Groups

Small, intimate groups of up to 8 children that meet every morning to greet each other, share stories, and co-plan the day’s journey together with their educator.

Competent Learners

We believe all children are naturally inquisitive and learn best through self-initiated play. Our role is to observe, document, and gently scaffold — never to dictate.

Indoor-Outdoor Flow

The boundary between inside and outside dissolves. Children move freely between the atelier, construction zone, garden, mud kitchen, and quiet reading corners based on their interests.

Framework

Trilingual Growth

German, English, and Arabic — woven naturally into daily life, not forced into worksheets.

Holistic Placement

Language group placement is never just a test score. We consider the child’s emotional comfort, home language history, social dynamics, and individual developmental stage to find the best fit.

Linguistic Stamina

Daily language circles focus deeply on one language at a time, preventing cognitive overload. Children build real fluency through songs, stories, rituals, and play — not rote memorization.

Translanguaging

We celebrate code-switching as a sign of cognitive flexibility. Children naturally move between languages to express nuanced ideas — and we honor that as a strength, not a confusion.

Moments

A Day in the Life

Structure and freedom coexist. Rhythms anchor the day, but within each block, children choose their path. Here’s a typical kindergarten day at KOMPASS.

9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Morning Arrival & Nest Circle

9:00 – 10:00

Children arrive and settle into their nest group. Morning circle includes greetings, songs in the focus language, weather observation, and collaborative day-planning. Each child shares their intention for the day.

Breakfast & Open Play

10:00 – 11:30

A healthy breakfast is served at 10:00 AM, prepared with the children’s help. Afterward, the heart of the day begins — children flow freely between the atelier, construction area, reading corner, role-play room, and garden. Educators observe and document learning, stepping in to scaffold when needed.

Language Circle & Music

11:30 – 12:00

Focused language immersion in the day’s target language through interactive songs, rhythm games, puppetry, and storytelling. This is where linguistic stamina is built — joyfully, not through drills.

Lunch & Garden Time

12:00 – 2:30

Lunch is served at 12:00 PM — a shared meal fostering table manners and conversation. Afterward, children enjoy outdoor free play in the garden with the mud kitchen, climbing structures, and nature exploration.

Snack & Closing Circle

2:30 – 4:00

Afternoon snack is served at 2:30 PM. The day closes with a reflection circle: children share what surprised them, what they made, and what they’re curious about tomorrow. Pickup is from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, with a personal note from educators.

“The trilingual approach blew us away. Within months, our son was singing in German and Arabic — not because he was drilled, but because it was woven into everything he loved doing.”
